This was featured as the top story on missouri.edu, the homepage of the University of Missouri, where it received over 20,000 pageviews and approximately 5,000 social media shares as of August 2017. The story was also picked up by outlets such as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Kansas City Star, and KOMU 8 News in Columbia, Missouri.
As a University of Missouri News Bureau writing intern during summer 2017, I wrote more than 130 press releases for the Student Honors Program, which highlights student achievements in hometown newspapers. My releases led to several dozen placements in Missouri newspapers.
As a communications strategy intern with 1Drop2Lives, a public health startup in Barcelona, I managed social media and press outreach. This involved creating text and graphics for Facebook and Twitter accounts, forming relationships with “influencer” organizations, and writing and sending press releases.
In summer 2015, I was a Tower Tomorrow Fellow with The Israel Project, a nonprofit strategic communications and press relations firm in Washington, D.C. I wrote daily posts for an internal blog on Israel and Middle East affairs, to hone messaging and strategic communications skills. I also assisted with fundraising and advancement efforts at TIP and learned about nonprofit management.
