I’m an award-winning narrative food writer and editor with a diverse array of media experience — I’ve worked at newspapers, magazines, strategic communications/advocacy firms, and public relations offices, and as a translator. I’m passionate about food, the way it intersects with our lives, and everything that goes into it reaching our table, from ingredients to labor to culture. I’m also interested in public health and health care, politics, and international affairs. In the food world, I’ve written about culture and restaurants around the world, from Columbia, Missouri, to Fez, Morocco, to Minneapolis to Barcelona, in English and Spanish.

A story I reported about Annie Fisher, a Columbia, Missouri, black restauranteur who has been largely erased from history due to racism is currently a finalist for the Association of Food Journalists award for best student writing about food. Another story on Missouri’s status as the only state without a prescription drug monitoring program shared a first-place win for local business coverage from the Missouri Press Association in 2017, and pieces I’ve edited have earned wins from the National Scholastic Press Association, the Missouri Press Association, and the Missouri College Media Association.

In the past, I’ve served as an assistant city editor for the daily Columbia Missourian newspaper and as the editor-in-chief of The Maneater, the University of Missouri’s independent student newspaper. I also co-hosted The Mizzou View, a weekly news podcast, and spoke about thesis-driven longform journalism at a national leadership conference in Washington, D.C.

I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2018 with a magazine writing emphasis, and also earned an interdisciplinary studies degree — coursework in international studies, business, and creative nonfiction — as well as a Spanish minor and a multicultural studies certificate.
